Kalmar launches its fifth generation Gloria reachstackers into the Americas

2014 Press

CARGOTEC CORPORATION, PRESS RELEASE, 23 OCTOBER 2014 AT 3 PM (EEST)

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, is launching its highly acclaimed range of reachstackers, called Gloria into the Americas. The eagerly awaited launch follows the successful introduction of Gloria into European and APAC markets where Kalmar reachstackers have firmly established a reputation for delivering higher standards of productivity and cost-efficient operation. The launch takes place on 23 October 2014 at Kalmar's factory in Cibolo, Texas, in conjunction with the annual Kalmar North American Dealer Meeting.

Kalmar has the industry's widest range of reachstackers, now with over thirty models available. The range has evolved to meet all types of cargo handling applications and caters for container, intermodal, barge and industrial handling market segments.

With costs of ownership high on the operator's agenda, Gloria sets the benchmark, combining high performance with low running costs. A lift capacity of 45 tonnes and a capability to stack up to 6 high (5 high on the intermodal) is just part of the story. A choice of three ECO driving modes; power, normal and economy; means that up to 20% fuel savings can be achieved. Additionally, the automatic stop/start function can result in a further 10% fuel saving and a reduction in emissions.

Commenting on the launch, Stefan Johansson, Director, Sales and Marketing, Kalmar Reachstackers and Empty Container Handlers, said, "We are particularly excited about launching Gloria into the Americas markets. Our global strategy for market growth has been driven by meeting the critical demands of our customers and as a result we have enjoyed considerable success with the introduction of our fifth generation reachstackers.  Gloria is a milestone in reachstacker design with numerous features that enhance productivity and significantly reduce the cost of ownership."

Greg Hewitt, Executive Vice President, Kalmar Americas, added, "The introduction of Gloria into the Americas, one of the largest markets in the world, is of significant strategic importance to Kalmar. Through our excellent dealer network we have always provided customers with a combination of high performance equipment and unbeatable service support. The investment in the latest range of reachstackers means we can sustain our commitment to help customers build efficient and profitable businesses."
